More than ever, leaders need to ‘build a culture of getting things done’.
To do this, we don’t need complex theories, the latest management fad, or bringing in a business guru.
We need to put in place an effective ‘one to one coaching process’.
Tell our people how we will be measuring their success – this shows them exactly how they need to prioritize their time.
Discuss with them, what challenges they see in achieving these results, this ensures we get their buy-in.
Ask them what help they need from us to overcome these challenges – this shows them we are there to support them and gets rid of excuses at the start.
Then the most important part, meet with them on a regular basis.
I recommend at least monthly, to go through my four 4 key areas.
- What specifically went well since we last met?
- What specifically did not go well since we last met?
- What do you see as your key goals and deliverables over the next month?
- What challenges do you see in meeting these goals and how I can help you?
When we do this, we will create a culture of ‘getting things done’.
