A question that a lot of my clients ask me is, “Mark, how do I engage my people to work more effectively in the organization, what’s the plan, what do I need to do?”
My immediate response is always that, the one key tool that costs absolutely nothing to implement, and gives the biggest results in getting your people to engage at the highest level possible is,…. recognition!
That is, catch the people around you doing the right things and give them that feedback!
I call it ‘The 7-second feedback’ It’s a strong comment, with a little bit of evidence behind it, and move on.
You will have forgotten about it 10 seconds later, but they will remember it the following day, the following week, and the following month that they feel appreciated for what they do in the organization.
