To deal with people effectively, we must study their wants, their needs, their motivations on an individual basis. If your key stakeholders feel that you are prepared to work on the relationship with them, ensuring that both sides benefit, then they will give you more of what you want. This is human nature.
My point is not a moral one, you as the leader will get better results for your business (and yourself) if you find out what your key stakeholders’ rational self-interest is and then find a way to make it work for you and them, that way everyone wins.
