As leaders, we need to ‘challenge the perception of ourselves’. When a large gap exists between how we see ourselves and how others see us, this leads to ‘leadership blind spots. This is why feedback from others is so important, it’s like a mirror that allows us to see ourselves as others do.

Action point: identify five key stakeholders and ask them three questions

  1. If you were recommending me to someone else, what three specific things would you say about me?  
  2. What two things if I stopped doing or done more of, I would be much more effective in the role that I am in? 
  3. What is the one overall strength that you see in me?
